The Skills Agenda
Skills Agenda for Economic Recovery (Read the Full Documents) 5/20/2020
We want every Illinoisan to contribute to an equitable recovery in Illinois through access to safe jobs that pay family-sustaining wages with benefits, offer career advancement opportunities, and align with their personal and professional goals. The Skills Agenda is a collaborative effort of advocates and service providers across the career pathways spectrum - from adult education to vocational training to higher education - to promote shared policy priorities that promote economic opportunity for Illinois' most marginalized workers and job seekers. The Transit Table
|
Revolution Workshop participates in the Transit Table, a coalition of social service providers, advocates, and other stakeholders from across Illinois working to eliminate transportation barriers that keep people out of work and in poverty. The Table's most recent success includes the signing of the License to Work Act by Governor JB Pritzker which eliminates driver’s license suspension as a penalty for most non-moving violations.

Bail Reform
|
We are proud to join organizations from across Illinois to lobby legislators and rally for pretrial justice reforms, including an end to money bond. Our goal is to end the large-scale jailing of people simply because they were unable to pay a monetary bond. We believe access to money should not determine who is incarcerated and who is free while awaiting trial. Overall, the Coalition is committed to reducing the number of people under pretrial supervision and the total number of individuals in Cook County Jail as part of a larger fight against mass incarceration.

Drug Sentencing Reform & Reducing Barriers to Recovery
|
We support taking a holistic community-based approach to reducing the harms associated with drug use. The measures we support would strengthen communities and neighborhoods across the State of Illinois by elevating an approach guided by public health concerns, replacing the failed strategy of punishment and
incarceration. |
